Why do license plates have to be renewed?

Why not make the amount of time until having to renew longer or shorter?|||You have to renew them because it's state law. The purpose of renewing your tags is for revenue to repair state roads.|||It's another form of taxation. It's just another way for the government to get money from you. Unfortunately if you don't renew your plates you cannot take your car out on the road.|||Different states,different laws but the one thing in common is that they all want your money.|||Because it's a revenue source.
