is there a standard amount of years/months a credit card is renewed for?|||when you get your new card, look at the expiration date. if it's say 3 years from now, than you have a card that expires every three years -- like that.|||No. It is just a matter of how long the company feels that they can keep you on the hook. Cut up the card and use cash. Save for what you need.|||Are you talking about a regular credit card, or a prepaid debit card?
Regular cards are re-issued at the whim of the credit card company. Some of my cards expire every couple years, then I have two that are good until 2012.
But, it is always at the lenders discretion to leave your credit line open. Many are finding that the credit card company is cutting off their credit, lowering their credit limit and raising rates to unreal amounts--even for people that have good credit and always pay their bills.
Now that the government is becoming partial owners of banks, look for the banks (credit card companies are banks) to screw over the people that pay even more.
Get out of debt, save money, stock up on food %26amp; necessities and pay cash.
Good luck to you
