How can I stop biting my nails and the flesh around them?

I've been doing this since my childhood. I tried using no-bite bitter solution (and i still do when i can remember) but when i forget to renew the layer and the taste is gone i pretty much bite back quickly and therefore negate the small healing that occurred in that small amount of time.

Is there any effective cure for this sh*t? I really wanna quit this nasty habit. I read about hypnotherapy and whatnot but do those stuff really work?

Thanks in advance.|||It's all about you dealing with your anxiety. Next time you notice that you are biting your nails, try to recognize how anxious you feel. Whether you're doing it to pass time, your nervous, your bothered by them.

To actually know how to battle your own anxiety requires some personal research. Find out the core of your problem. I too have done it most of my life since childhood. I quit around my early teens for a few years, because I really told myself that I didn't need to do it, but one day, when I recently started smoking a lot of weed, my anxiety came back strong, and I started biting my nails one day in detention. Haven't really stopped since, but I did calm down with it and don't do it as bad as I once did. Whenever I catch myself doing it, it's always because my anxiety has gotten the best of me.

To this day I am still anxious in many cases that don't call for it (public speaking in my class). I hope to overcome it for the most part when I quit smoking weed.|||self-control.

i had the same problem for the longest time.|||I had the same problem. The only thing that worked was when I had my first girlfriend and she told me to stop or she would dump me. I stopped, but she dumped me anyway, for other reasons. :-)|||Some people paint Alum dissolved in water and painted on their nails daily will stop the habit as it tastes very bitter. You must be proactive and want to stop biting your nails in order for it to be a thing of the past. Jeremy|||as with anything its just going to take your own perseverance. Good luck. I have the same problem. Its a horrible addicting habit.|||Perhaps you could try keeping your teeth busy all day long with chewing gum.
